The Feedforward (FF) tool is designed for efficiency. Follow this step-by-step guidance and watch the demo video below.
Why Use the Feedforward Tool:
Proactively involve coworkers as active participants in the leadership change process.
Gather high-quality suggestions directly from coworkers.
Save valuable time for both the leader and the coach.
When to Use:
After your current coaching session or 1-2 weeks before the upcoming session.
How to Use:
1. Feedforward Setup and Launch:
When choosing a session to collect feedforward suggestions, make sure it's the same session where you intend to use the feedforward for creating an action plan, and then publish the plan after the session ends. By doing this, the feedforward suggestions will automatically be pre-populated into the action plan, and everything will work hand in glove.
Create and open the Feedforward tool.
Choose a closing date (typically the day before your coaching session).
Select a launch date (usually 10-20 days before the upcoming session).
Set automatic reminders for coworkers to reflect and provide their suggestions.
Launch the feedforward collection automatically on the set launch date or manually by clicking "Launch Now."
2. Data Collection, Reminders, and Review:
After the launch, coworkers (and the leader) receive email requests for feedforward.
They follow the link and submit their suggestions.
The coaching tools automatically collect the data, saving you time.
Reminders are sent on the scheduled dates to all coworkers who have not responded.
You can change these reminder dates at any time and send manual reminders as you see fit.
Monitor progress and responses in real-time.
All this ensures coworkers' involvement and getting the best suggestions for the leader to consider.
Suggestions are categorized by leadership growth areas, providing an organized list of high-quality input.
Coworkers can revisit the survey, edit, and add suggestions.
Close data collection just before your coaching session to consider any last-minute submissions.
3. Preparing for the Coaching Session:
Review the list of feedforward suggestions and consider how the leader can use them for their action plan as you use the Action Planning Coaching Questions from your Coaching Tools training.
Optionally, email the feedforward suggestions to yourself and forward them to the leader to ensure everyone is informed and prepared for action planning in the upcoming session.
By following these steps, you'll spend less than 15 minutes on the entire process. Automated data collection and organization will provide you with a wealth of consistent, valuable suggestions to enhance your coaching sessions.
