GLA Languages - Be Aware

As a coach, your role is to ensure respondents provide feedback in a language the leader (or you, as their coach) can actually understand and act on.

Last updated on 11 Sept, 2026

The GLA survey can be shared with respondents in a variety of languages. Each respondent can change their own language setting at their own discretion, so they see and respond to the survey in the language they're most comfortable with. This makes it much easier for respondents to understand the questions accurately and provide feedback that truly reflects their experience.

There are three important things to keep in mind when using this feature.

1. Verbatim feedback and anonymity

When a respondent writes their open-ended feedback in their own language, that feedback is shown to the leader exactly as written — verbatim, in the original language. Because language choice can narrow down who provided a particular comment, this can reduce a respondent's anonymity, especially on teams where only one or two people speak that language. Keep this in mind when inviting respondents and setting expectations around anonymity.

2. Only invite respondents in languages the leader (or the coach) understands

The GLA platform does not perform any AI translation of verbatim feedback. Whatever language a respondent types their comments in is exactly what the leader will see (i.e., verbatim).

As a coach, only invite respondents in languages that you or the leader can read — otherwise their feedback risks going unread or misunderstood.

3. Editing or translating verbatim feedback

If you decide to edit or translate a respondent's verbatim comments, you have two options. While data collection is still open, you can use the respondent survey link to update their response directly. Once data collection has closed and the final report is ready, you can translate or edit verbatim comments manually — using AI to translate the text and a PDF editor to update the report itself.
